Child Nutrition Manager

Essential Duties

Training, supervising, and evaluating food service staff according to established procedures. Utilizes the PCS Program software and the Point of Sale by the Child Nutrition Program accountability guidelines. Maintains a required system of accountability. Implements policies and procedures relating to the Child Nutrition Program. Manages the program by federal, state, and local guidelines. Utilizes available monetary and other resources to maintain a financially stable food service operation. Serves and evaluates nutritionally sound meals, incorporates time-saving production techniques, and effective merchandising according to established standards. Purchases, orders, stores, and handles all food supplies and equipment according to system-established specifications and procedures. Attends new manager training conducted by the Alabama State Department of Education. Performs other duties as identified by the principal, CNP Food Service Director, or CNP Specialist

Qualifications

  • Must be a high school graduate from a regionally accredited school or have a GED equivalent
  • Must have three (3) years of experience in a food preparation school cafeteria or have an equivalent quantity of food preparation experience from another type of food service institution
  • Applicants for Multi-Unit operations must have three (3) years of experience as a CNP Manager
  • Must have knowledge of and experience in working with an inventory system
  • Must have knowledge of and experience in basic computer skills with Windows, E-mail, Excel, and Word
  • Must have and maintain ServSafe Certification from the National Restaurant Association
  • Must have completed specified Human Resource Series online courses through the Institute of Child Nutrition
  • Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by Life Academy and the State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law

Federal Programs and Grants Compliance Manager

Essential Duties

Oversee overall Federal Programs grant financials

Assists and advises school administrators in coordinating the school improvement process, implementation, and evaluation of state and federal grants.

Documents payments and expenditures for all grants within the school

Optimizing grant administration process

Identifying grant funding opportunities.

Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals.

Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.

Identifying and managing data for internal and external reporting

Maintaining accurate records related to budgets, amendments – ensuring complete an accurate financial activity related to the grant program

Ensures reimbursements and budget amendments are accurate and processed in a timely manner

Monitors assigned budgets; analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial data; controls and authorizes expenditures by established limitations.

Preparing monthly financial reports detailing funds expenditures, balances, analyze information

Ensures compliance with state and federal grant funding regulations

Effectively monitor funds in EGAP and other grant monitoring systems.

Educates staff on spending policies guidelines and ensures compliance. Allocate, disburse and monitor federal funds to schools and departments.

Engage with the Alabama Department of Education for compliance, amendments, coding, spend down.

Responsible for inventory of entire federal, state and grant funded items and its entities

Conducts ongoing monitoring of compliant financial and paperwork across the program

Stays abreast of current regulations and procedures related to Federal Programs regulations and applicable local guidelines.

Performs other such duties as may be required

Provide on-going support by engaging with the back office, instructional supervisors, program administrators,, ASDE in regards to Federal and State guidelines

Education, Experience, and Certification/License

Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Services, Education, Education Administration, or a related field is required.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong people skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Considerable knowledge of budget preparation, efficiency, and control principles and techniques.

Considerable knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Program coordination or administration experience is required.

Evidence of successful grant development and management skills required.

Some experience with charter schools is preferred but not required.

Demonstrated experience working with large, complex budgets and fiscal operations. (e.g., multiple revenue streams, grants, revolving funds, inventory, internal controls, and financial technology systems).

Thorough understanding of financial targets and measurable budgetary outcomes in Strategic Planning.

Previous experience in fundraising a plus

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a grant funding administrator or lead worker capacity .

At least three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience related to management, supervisory, and budgetary experience with multi-million-dollar federal programs or grants is preferred.

Paraprofessional

Essential Duties

The Paraprofessional’s responsibilities include assisting the teacher with teaching new concepts or translating information for students to understand better, supervising students, and providing students with a positive, nurturing guide. The paraprofessional will deal with students, parents, staff, and the community in a professional manner, and follow and uphold school rules and standards.

Qualifications 

At least 60 credit hours or completion of the WorkKeys assessment with the minimum score requirements to be eligible for this position.

Experience working with students/children in an educational setting (after school program, student teaching, etc.) (preferred)

Demonstrate measurable success in previous experiences related to education or working with students

Experience teaching underserved students (preferred)
